Poor Drainage System Causes Citizens to Be Furious
Residents from Kedargouri and Kotitirtha in India are angered by the city government because of the lack of proper drainage systems causing unhygienic conditions and pitted roads. The area, located within 1 kilometer of Lingaraj Temple, is a concrete example of the lack of sufficient plumbing.
On your visit you will find barely any plumbing facilities in the locale. What’s even more devastating is that decades-old drainage systems are malfunctioning and even irreparable because of insufficient maintenance and care given by the government. This has resulted in the area being flooded with even a slight malfunction.
Because of the help deficiency from the local government, the residents took matters in their own hands. In 2003 they constructed drains, but this project was all for naught when the government decided to construct sewer lines and roads in their place.
All the sewer lines in the area are connected to Daya West Canal. But because of the pitted roads and plumbing damages, stray animals and cattle often slip into the drainage systems.
