Spring Plumbing Cleaning Tips
Keeping your home’s plumbing system in good shape is a simple topic of maintenance. Checking leaky faucets, back up pipes, and running toilets, to name a few, is important to prevent bigger plumbing problems from arising in the future. You can incorporate this as part of your spring cleaning routine.
For starters, you may consider these tips:
1) Before spring even arrives, ensure that the sump pump is properly working as it may have frozen up during the winter. It’s better to find malfunctions sooner than discovering them when it’s too late such as when the spring thaw and rains occur.
2) Choose a drain cleaner with care. A lot of the household cleaners these days contain harmful chemicals which could damage your pipes.
3) If your toilet is backing up, check if the blockage exists at the branch line which connects the sewage to the main lines.
Maintaining your plumbing system at home may not be at the top of your list when it comes to household tasks but doing so can keep your plumbing work in good condition for several years to come.
