How to Prevent Flooding That’s Caused by Bad Plumbing
The problem however, is that plumbing problems usually come to a head when you least expect them. Even if one were to foresee it happening, most homeowners are less prepared in dealing with it, than say dealing with storms and hurricanes. The worst that could happen is to have water come flooding inside your house because of some burst pipe.
One has got to be ready in dealing with problems like that, just as we are prepared to handle hurricanes. There are certain steps that one can do in order to ensure that flooding inside a house because of bad plumbing will not happen. Here is an excerpt from an article by Beth Kassab that appeared on the Orlando Sentinel, “Look under your sinks. This is one of the simplest things you can do. Check the pipes under each sink as well as the lines running to your dishwasher and refrigerator. Dampness on the outside of a pipe can signal a larger mess isn’t far off. Better to catch it early, though, before drips warp your cabinets or cause other damage.
You can’t prevent everything. The stuff you can’t see is the toughest to deal with. The pipe that broke in my wall wasn’t visible from the outside. If you know you have copper piping, take extra care because copper is more likely to leak.”
