Investigation due to Improper Drainage Initiated by Local Officials
Mayor Frank Huttle of Englewood, New Jersey instructed a full investigation to happen. This was decided after finding out that chlorinated water from Tryon Pool was flowing into Metzler Brook on Thursday of September 5, 2013.
The said pool was closed since Monday and found half empty so it’s become unclear how long it’s been emptying it’s contents. Both the city and the county officials have launched their separate investigations on the matter as per instructed by the city mayor.
Additionally, the Bergen County Department of Health was given a go-signal to start their own investigation. According to Community Health Services Coordinator, Charlene Gungil, an environmental specialist was already hired and sent to investigate the issue. Furthermore, after finding out about this unusual situation, the pool’s draining system has immediately been redirected back to the sewers.
The Health Department was asked to investigate the problem as requested by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. This matter won’t be handed out to the Health Department unless DEP deems it an issue posing serious risks.
